Resist Donor Privacy and Security Policy

Resist is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors. Each staff person, with access to donor contact information and donation history, signs a confidentiality statement.

Resist is also committed to inform you of how your information is used. Donors can at any point ask that we remove their name from our mailing list.

Personally Identifiable Information

Resist collects personal information from visitors and other supporters when they make a donation online, offline or subscribe to our e-newsletter. Our web server does not automatically recognize or collect personal information based on your email address; the personal information we collect is always voluntarily submitted by you.

Information Collected 

Here are the types of donor information that we collect and maintain:

• Contact information: name, organization, complete address, phone number, email address.
• Payment information: credit card numbers and expiration dates are stored off site through Network for Good.
• Your donation history with Resist.
• Any special notes or comments.

How Information is Used

Resist uses your information to provide you with timely information about our programs and the work of groups around the country as well as to keep track of your giving history with the organization. We use the comments you offer to provide you with the information requested and we take seriously each recommendation as to how we improve communication.

Sharing of Personal Information We are aware of and sensitive to the issue of unsolicited email (“spam”); therefore Resist will never rent, trade or sell your email address. From time to time, however, other reputable, charitable organizations write via postal mail to some of each other’s supporters, for the mutual benefit of both. We offer donors the option to check off a box in all our materials if they prefer their information not be shared.  

If you would prefer not to have your name used in this manner, simply send us a request via email to seth@resist.org with your exact name and address.

Update, Correct or Delete Personal Information.
The accuracy of your individual information is important to Resist. If you have a question about or would like to make changes to your personal information, please send an email to seth@resist.org.

Securing Your Information. Resist believes strongly in data security.  We have a detailed data confidentiality policy signed by all staff members that both limits access to data and prevents any use of your data outside of approved communications and fundraising purposes.  All identifiable data collected by mail is stored in secure file cabinets and then shredded once allowed by law.  All data collected electronically is done so using the latest in encryption technology. Data is securely stored in our database hosted by Network for Good, a highly reputable non-profit organization. You can read their donor privacy and security. Data is collected using industry accepted data collection and encryption methodologies including SSL encryption, user authentication, and Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards compliance.
